Job Description
Hybrid OR Remote : This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Detroit, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:
This Communications support will support the GM Motorsports Communications team across all motorsport platforms. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile racing programs, assist with storytelling, and grow within a fast-paced, high-performance environment and a culture driven by innovation and excellence.

General Motors is accelerating its presence in global motorsport—from Formula 1 with Cadillac, endurance racing with Corvette and Cadillac V-Series.R, IndyCar and NASCAR, alongside grassroots initiatives. GM Motorsports represents the cutting edge of performance, innovation, and brand storytelling. As we expand our global footprint, we’re building a communications team to match the ambition and energy of our racing programs.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
Content & Editorial Strategy
• Lead development of press releases, race reports, and internal communications across Cadillac F1, Corvette Racing, and other GM motorsport programs
• Oversee creation of social media content in collaboration with global digital teams
• Manage multimedia asset production (photography, video, graphics) to support storytelling
• Prepare high-impact materials for senior leadership and stakeholder presentations
Media Relations
• Direct media engagement, including interviews with drivers, engineers, and team leadership
• Maintain media contact lists and monitor global motorsport coverage
• Lead media briefings, press kit development, and race weekend logistics
• Host and manage media visits to motorsport facilities
Event & Race Weekend Communications
• Provide strategic communications support at races, media events, and brand activations
• Oversee hospitality communications and guest experience content
• Capture and coordinate behind-the-scenes content for internal and external use
• Serve as primary liaison with race series communications and marketing teams
• Will require frequent travel (domestic and international)
Internal Communications
• Develop internal messaging for GM stakeholders, including global teams and dealer networks
• Ensure alignment with Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GM Brand teams on timing and messaging
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in strategic communications, ideally within motorsports, automotive, sports, or entertainment industries
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of brand voice, tone, and storytelling
• Proficiency in social media platforms, digital content tools, and working with content creators
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while building strong cross-functional relationships
• Deep passion for motorsports and brand-driven storytelling
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams to ensure motorsports communications drive value for GM and its brands globally
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge ( Preferred Qualifications):
• Proven experience in motorsports communications, including race weekend media operations and stakeholder engagement
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and meet tight deadlines
• Experience collaborating with senior leadership and managing agency or external partner relationships
• Strategic mindset with a track record of developing integrated communications plans aligned with brand and business goals
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
The salary range for this role is ($109,000 – 144,700). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
