Job Description

TITLE: Events Director PAY STATUS: Exempt DIVISION: Events - Nonevent RESPONSIBILITY OF: GM NO. OF POSITIONS: One DATE: POSITION LOCATION: SCD - CA ABOUT THE ROLE: The Events Director is a full-time position whose primary responsibility is overseeing the planning, preparation and execution of track events. The goal is to ensure that every event is delivered in a manner that reflects the high standards of excellence of WSR. Events must meet the standards of safety, customer service and efficient delivery. The ideal candidate will adopt a GLOBE mentality. GLOBE stands for Generously Lending Our Best Efforts. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Helping define and deliver Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) that ensure successful execution of all events. • Review and continuously update Operations Manual • Conduct training of team members to ensure understanding of SOPs • Work with GM in developing a team member development plan • Managing the track events calendar. • Work closely with the sales team to understand client expectations and event specifics • Communicate the event specifics with the appropriate operational teams including Fire/Safety; Security/Gate; Maintenance; Housekeeping and Catering • Manage all aspects of Pre-event planning including facilities preparation, team member scheduling, preparation of event schedules and fuel inventory • Manage the scheduling of support services as required. ALS, Race Control, etc. • Managing the Operating Budget in areas of direct responsibility. • Manage team staffing and utilization • Manage expense categories and identify efficiencies • Conduct variance analysis • Maximize revenue generating opportunities • Managing Event Delivery and Post Event Procedures • Manage all aspects of event logistics • Provide event day support as required • Designate Manager on Duty (MOD) when not present at the event • Develop and communicate Crisis Management Plan that covers each type of event • Complete Post event reporting and follow up with Sales Manager • Implement a Quality Insurance process for events • Ensuring track operations assets and equipment are properly maintained, fully functional and professional appearing • Manage the asset inventory and tracking through the computerized tracking system. • Schedule maintenance, repairs and replacement of all operations vehicles, support equipment, timing and scoring equipment, PA systems. • Conduct routing inspections of all assets MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Superior verbal/written communications skills • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail • Ability to work independently as well as in team environments • Position requires ability to work nights and weekends • Position may require occasional travel through Speedway Motorsports workshare program to other facilities to support other events PAY RATE: $100,000K annually / payable at a rate of $3,846.15 bi-weekly BENEFITS: • Competitive wages • Medical, dental, and other insurance benefits • 401(k) plan • Vacation and paid holidays All candidates must submit the following to be considered for the position: • Cover letter • Resume • (3) Professional References The above description denotes some of the specific characteristics that are necessary to perform the principal functions of the job and are not intended to be a description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position.
