About the position GM Motorsports competes across multiple racing series, each utilizing distinct engine architectures that demand advanced torque management, precise engine controls, and seamless systems integration. This role is responsible for defining propulsion performance metrics for GM Motorsports, enhancing overall performance, and developing complementary tools and strategic guidance for programs employing similar control systems. Responsibilities • Serve as the subject matter expert to optimize torque control performance across various competing motorsport programs • Drive collaboration between the programs to ensure synergy and performance improvements • Communicate technical concepts effectively, demonstrating strong English language skills (spoken and written) • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on a regular basis • Work collaboratively with multiple engine program teams, fostering strong relationships • Apply analytical thinking to solve complex technical challenges • Maintain a race team and event-oriented mindset, ensuring responsiveness to dynamic conditions • Demonstrate structured work habits, excellent organizational skills, and clear communication • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment • Uphold a strong work ethic, integrity, and professionalism in all activities Requirements • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field of study • 7+ years of professional experience • Motorsports or performance vehicle engine program experience is required • Vehicle and dyno engine calibration experience • Knowledge of combustion system development • Motorsport control system integration to vehicle beyond dyno • Strong knowledge engine operation • Simulation model understanding and correlation experience Nice-to-haves • Experience in early-stage program development across production and/or motorsports applications • Proven expertise as a subject matter authority in propulsion control systems, ideally with hands-on implementation and optimization experience Benefits • From day one, we're looking out for your well-being–at work and at home–so you can focus on realizing your ambitions. • Learn how GM supports a rewarding career that rewards you personally by visiting Total Rewards resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field of study
  • 7+ years of professional experience
  • Motorsports or performance vehicle engine program experience is required
  • Vehicle and dyno engine calibration experience
  • Knowledge of combustion system development
  • Motorsport control system integration to vehicle beyond dyno
  • Strong knowledge engine operation
