Job Description

Position Title: Fleet Manager Location: Willow Springs Raceway Team Leader: General Manager / VP of Operations Position Purpose The Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and reliability of all vehicles and equipment essential to the successful operation of Willow Springs Raceway. This includes tow trucks, fire and safety vehicles, sweepers, blowers, ATVs, golf carts, track operations vehicles, and heavy equipment. This teammate will apply, uphold, and continuously improve Speedway Motorsports’ maintenance and operations Playbooks across all fleet functions—building consistency, elevating performance, and ensuring that every vehicle is fully prepared to support daily track operations and world-class motorsports events. The Fleet Manager is expected to embody Speedway Motorsports’ principles—Care for Teammates, Be Remarkable, Impact Community, and Continuously Improve—while demonstrating a strong GLOBE mentality (Generously Lending Our Best Efforts). Primary Roles, Responsibilities, and Outcomes 1. Fleet Maintenance, Readiness, and Reliability Role: Ensure all raceway vehicles and equipment are in top operational condition at all times. Responsibilities: • Manage and perform maintenance, repairs, and service scheduling for the full fleet of raceway vehicles and equipment. • Conduct recurring inspections to ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and operational standards. • Track mileage, hours, service intervals, and maintenance history using approved processes and systems. • Coordinate repair turnaround and communicate status updates to support operational planning. • Apply Speedway Motorsports Maintenance Playbooks and contribute insights for continuous improvement. Expected Outcomes: • High vehicle uptime, limited operational disruptions, and reliably safe equipment for all track uses. 2. Preventive Maintenance Program Leadership Role: Reduce downtime and extend equipment life through proactive maintenance. Responsibilities: • Develop, execute, and optimize preventive maintenance programs for all vehicles and equipment. • Identify maintenance trends and adjust schedules or procedures to improve efficiency. • Document best practices and recommended updates to fleet maintenance Playbooks. Expected Outcomes: • Preventive maintenance completed consistently and efficiently, improving safety and readiness. 3. Operational Support for Raceway Activities Role: Ensure fleet readiness for all racing, testing, rental, and special events. Responsibilities: • Prepare and stage necessary vehicles and equipment for daily operations and event schedules. • Support emergency response readiness (fire trucks, sweepers, tow vehicles, etc.). • Respond quickly to operational needs during track activities. • Occasionally support Speedway Motorsports events at other properties when needed. Expected Outcomes: • All critical assets ready before each event; seamless support during operations. 4. Inventory, Parts Management, and Budget Oversight Role: Maintain efficient control over fleet resources and costs. Responsibilities: • Manage parts inventory to support maintenance and urgent repair needs. • Maintain accurate records of usage, supplies, and ordering cycles. • Monitor expenses and maintain fleet operations within approved budgets. • Recommend cost-saving improvements aligned with Continuous Improvement principles. Expected Outcomes: • Well-organized inventory, cost-efficient maintenance execution, and accurate financial tracking. Skills, Attitudes, and Experience Experience and Competencies • Experience in fleet management, automotive repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or track operations. • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle types. • Experience with preventive maintenance processes and maintenance recordkeeping systems. • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and support multiple departments simultaneously. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across track operations. • Willingness to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions, with exposure to heat, noise, and vehicle exhaust. • Ability to work nights, weekends, and occasional Speedway Motorsports events off-site. • Valid California driver’s license required; CDL preferred. Preferred Experience • Background in motorsports, emergency response, or event operations. • Familiarity with mixed-use fleets and specialized track support vehicles.
