About the position
The Performance Engineer at Pratt Miller will play a crucial role in the Competition Engineering Department, focusing on enhancing vehicle performance for internal programs. This in-person position based in Michigan involves significant collaboration with engineering teams to prepare for and execute race events, utilizing data analysis and simulation tools to improve performance outcomes. The role requires travel to support race and test events, with a commitment to maintaining high standards in vehicle performance and race strategy execution.
Responsibilities
• Propose and collaborate with the engineering team to establish event-related hardware and vehicle preparation objectives.

• Improve event-specific performance through data analysis, vehicle simulation, and historical information.
,
• Develop, manage, and execute project-related work and documentation related to vehicle performance and race strategy.
,
• Track and communicate updates and status, participating in meetings to review performance objectives.
,
• Execute specific tasks as directed by senior race engineers, including vehicle data processing and analysis.
,
• Manage and analyze results from supporting software toolchains for performance execution.
,
• Support vehicle development initiatives, including vehicle setup and hardware integration.
,
• Provide in-person support for offsite testing and simulation support for performance analysis.
,
• Maintain and develop reporting documentation for event and engineering projects.
,
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to enhance performance and execution.
Requirements
• BS in engineering or other advanced technical background.
,
• 5 years of experience in motorsport.
,
• Self-motivated with the ability to determine goals and deliverables.
,
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematics, aerodynamics, and tires.
,
• Ability to review experimental and simulation results for decision making.
,
• Familiarity with vehicle simulation and modeling.
,
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to function under high pressure and time constraints.

• Familiarity with data acquisition systems such as PI Toolbox and Bosch tools.
