Job Description

Job Summary: Karting at Road America is a thrilling, safe, and competitive sport held at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex on select weeknights and weekends from May to September. For more than 25 years, the Road America Karting Club has fostered competitive kart racing in a welcoming, family-oriented environment. Road America is currently seeking an individual who is passionate about motorsports and enthusiastic about karting to join our team. This detail-oriented individual will oversee all facets of the Karting Club, including race day operations and managing events within a dynamic and fast-paced professional setting. Events range in size and type, encompassing a weeknight karting series, weekend karting series, and various other karting events at Road America. While prior karting experience is a plus, a genuine interest in motorsports is a requirement. Reports to: Programs Coordinator Key Responsibilities: The Race Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Training and evaluating support staff • Directing and supervising event activities • Managing race day operations and reporting statistics • Cultivating new partnerships and fostering strong relationships with existing team members Role Details: • Part-time position averaging 10 to 20 hours weekly, depending on the number of scheduled races. Weeknight Series hours: 2:30pm – 9:30pm; Weekend Series hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm. • Racing season runs from May to September. Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess: • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills • Ability to multitask, think innovatively, adapt, and troubleshoot challenges effectively • Experience in event coordination and management • Enthusiasm for sports and entertainment • Quick learning ability and adeptness in interpersonal communication • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with teams • Eagerness to understand the company's history, competitive landscape, and offerings • Capacity to foster strong relationships with clients, sponsors, fans, media, and vendors Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience and performance. Hours can be long and vary by week and event type. The candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends to support events.
