About the position
The Motorsports Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer at General Motors is responsible for developing and maintaining multibody vehicle models using Modelica Libraries in Dymola. This role is crucial for enhancing the team's capabilities in motorsport simulation, requiring a deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and simulation tools. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to define simulation requirements, optimize models for real-time applications, and implement advanced simulation techniques to support GM's motorsport programs.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain accurate and efficient multibody vehicle models using Modelica Libraries in Dymola for various race series
,
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to define simulation requirements and validate model results
,
• Optimize simulation models for real-time Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) applications
,
• Research and implement state-of-the-art techniques in simulation model development
,
• Play a key role in the development of GM Motorsports Simulation toolchain
Requirements
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
,
• Minimum 4 years of motorsport or automotive industry experience in multibody vehicle dynamics simulation
,
• In-depth understanding of vehicle modeling, including suspension kinematics and advanced tire models
,
• Expertise in developing accurate and numerically efficient complex multibody vehicle models using Modelica Libraries in Dymola
,
• Experience optimizing simulation models for use in real-time Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulators
,
• Experience in formulating and solving minimum lap time and quasi-static simulation problems
,
• Knowledge of motorsport simulation tools and their practical applications in high-performance racing environments
,
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate simulation results into actionable insights for vehicle performance improvement

• Effective communication skills and the ability to interact well with others

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as required by motorsport demands
